Students participating  in the 2008 summer program have the option of earning their basic open water diver certification, or if already certified, their advanced diver certification.

The three-dimensional underwater realm that you experience on SCUBA can only be compared to floating in space. Since very few of us will have the opportunity to visit outer space and there aren’t any cool animals floating around there anyway, the sport of SCUBA brings the individual into a world so completely different from what we experience during everyday life.

SCUBA also gives us access to underwater scenery that can’t be viewed from snorkeling alone. The majesty of the coral canyons, the awe-inspiring walls and the cobalt blue waters await those adventurous enough to challenge themselves with SCUBA. Equally as important, students feel a sense of accomplishment and confidence having completed a SCUBA certification course that will carry through into other aspects of their life. A sense of going places that their friends have not will expand their minds and their hearts.

Groups are sent reading material and videos ahead of time so when they arrive in Belize they are ready to begin their SCUBA training. Just a few steps from you room is the fresh water pool where our confined water training takes place. Once you learn the necessary skills for diving safely we head out to the open ocean to complete our open water training dives. With the exception of mask, fins and snorkel, all SCUBA gear will be provided.
